i have a 2165 jonsered and was thinking of upgrading i don't have any local dealers for dolmar but i was thinking of a jonsered 2171 or a dolmar 7900 i've ran a 2171 but not a dolmar what are the pros and cons of the dolmar

Won't a 2171 top end bolt on a 2165? I could be wrong going from memory, but if it does that could leave you with a cheaper option and the possibility of a 2171 bb

I don't know about the Dolmar, but the 2171 I have is the best saw I have ever owned for firewood.

i was thinking about the 7300 but it weighs same as 7900 i don't think i could forgive myself for buying a saw if their was one that wieghed the same with more power

Buying a 6400 or a 7300 as opposed to buying a 7900,. Makes about as much sense as buying a muscle car like a camaro, mustang,or a dart and getting a 4 or six cylinder.. LOL
I know I had to pull the 4 cylinder out of my 6400 and drop in the 7900 v 8

It will, but the result depends on which carb the 2165 has - it needs to be the Walbro, and not the Zama.

I can't believe this, but buy the 7900. If you want a bigger saw, the 2171 is close the 2165 so the biggest gains would be from the 7900.

I love my 2171 though, a lot.

stihl 460 :hmm3grin2orange:

i have no experience with husqys, but the 7900 does rock.
though functional, the side tensioner is a little bit 'mickey mouse' (my own experience). the saw is light and seems to have more torque than a high revving modern saw should, IMO.
good luck!:)
