Easy question: What's 'DBH?'

Sorry, newbie without professional training. What's 'dbh' stand for? Used as a measure of how big a tree is. Guessing that it's something about a diameter of the main stem or trunk at some point. Tried searching for 'dbh' and got too many hits; 'dbh and definition' didn't find me anything.

O'ld forrestry measurment so that there was a somewhat reasonable way to compare stock.

I've been told that this was used because that is where the majority old trees lost thier taper and usable saw wood comes in.
 
As an 'ol Forest Service employee, I thought it meant:

Diameter at where your Boobies Hit.

(that worked okay until we went co-ed....I still thought it worked well, but they didn't. No humor anymore).
