Already have an ms200...but really need an ultra light saw. Anyone use this echo 271saw, what do you think of it?

The dealer will not run what he has for me but says it is capable for its size/weight, but is a far cry from the 200.

i have to disagree with him,,,every echo i have run against the same size stihl the stihl smoked it,,, i used to be die hard echo not anymore,, sounds like he won't back up what he is saying by not letting you run one,, if it was me i would spend a few extra bucks and get teh stihl,, you won't look back

the echo 261t is 26.9cc and 6.6lb, certainly won't make any near the power of a 200t. Steve

Well, never have used a 271T; I had a 360T and still have a 330T. I can tell you that there neither the 330T nor the 360T come close to the 200T .. not even in anybodies wildest dreams. Any way you measure them they can not compare - durability - power - whatever. (I had a 200T run over three weeks ago by a Bobcat and it still runs - I do have one that needs a small part on top handle but it was dropped from bucket - it still runs and is used).

Just got back in from running this saw for the first time. I went out not expecting much, and came back thoroughly impressed. I was basing my anticipation on my experience with my Shindaiwa 285s, same cc category. That saw was an absolute dud until I muffler modded and ported it. This Echo is an entirely different story. It ran great out of the box, with no adjustments. I was particularly surprised at how responsive the throttle was, and the torque it developed. I can't wait to see how it runs with a few tanks through it (this is the first time this saw has been run) and a real chain on it. Uploading video now. BTW, weight is 6lbs 10oz dry powerhead with clutch cover installed.

For comparison, here is my Shindaiwa 285s after porting. I have no before video, it was too embarrassing.
