This was one hot saw at one time. Jred 2159 with a cat muffler and the out let at the top. Kept your hand warm at 30 below with out a heavy gloce just the Ove glove.

Never seen one do that, as Steve said, those heated mufflers lol.
Did you replace the muffler with a non cat version, how's the piston look.
What's it doing now.

Non cat muffler now piston looked fine. exhust port no longer on the top of the muffler. comes out the right hand upper corner.
