Well as it happens every few years the small townI live in goes bat crap crazy and tries to make everyone assimilate to gated comuntity standards. I got a certified notification that our privacy fence was not straight, a few posts were leaning causing it to be wavy. I agreed and told them I would fix it. Unfortunately my dad was very sick and I just got around to fixing it recently. Of course this put me in the non compliant file because I hadn't fixed it in the 30 days. So I get further notification 2 days after I got it fixed that I was non compliant on a few other things, really piddly stuff one of them being lawn debris. Wasnt sure what that could be so I called.... My firewood behind my 6 foot privacy fence is lawn debris? I think we are at an impass.

Tell them to pay your gas or oil bill if they dont want wood in YOUR yard.. The stupid bastard next door to me kept complaining about my wood rows... Only for him to come to me late Fed to ask for some free wood as he was all out as it was colder longer then he expected. First off.. We live in Central Alberta.. Its cold. Dumbass.. second ya complain about what you just asked for.. piss off jerk wad..

I can see old junk cars that haven't been fixed in years being considered lawn debris, or even old appliances...but firewood? Tell the homeowners association they can pick up the tab on your heating bill, then.

Tell the HO and your neighbor.

I won't be building a woodshed, 25 years in the same location burning wood, no complaints till now and for years we diddnt have a fence.

That's funny that you mention a homeowners assoc, I life in a once farming comuntity of about 1800 people. Lots of people burn wood here. Not sure what to tell them except I won't be moving my firewood elsewhere. They seem most upset with last years wood pile. We changed locations of it to an area you can't see from the outside without a lader. I left last years to burn in the shop. I will go through it and toss out any doty or nasty stuff, but the burn able stuff will be there till it is burnt up this winter.

I have a tractor in the lot and it was brought up as an issue, not sure what to tell them it has spent the last 10 years outside and will do so for a few more. I moved my skid steer to the farm last year because of complaints about it being in the lot.

Don't ever, buy 3/4 acer in town even if it is a good deal to live in because this is the dumb stuff you get. No wonder there are 3 houses on every block for sale that are not selling who would want to deal with busy body's.

The US is in a pitiful state when the local govt. starts fining you for grass height, firewood in your yard, pickup truck in your driveway, etc. etc. All the while theft and serious crime going on all around us with the police barely keeping up with it.... Maybe they are too busy enforcing bs regulations like this.
I don't think this is the idea of freedom we all grew up with.....
I live in Norway half the time and sadly I have noticed they have a level of freedom and of privacy in Norway far beyond what we have in the US today and Norway is a socialist country....The people in Norway complain that their restrictions are too much and similar to the Soviet Union......They do not even believe its true when I tell them about these kind of regulations back home....They grew up believing America was the ideal free country...
Sad state of affairs.

Well, they fine you as a homeowner because that provides them with a revenue stream.... chasing criminals cost the city money and prosecuting them costs even more. I was told by my city to" REMOVE LARGE PILES OF WOOD" within 10 days of notice or face daily fines along with removal charges if the wood was not removed. . . I was told I could only keep a "reasonable amount of wood". These people are a bunch of do nothing government jerk offs.

this is the reason I live way out in the county,,, no real close neighbors,, if I want to pee off the front porch I can,,,, I have done it several times more off the back porch,,

Start stacking in odd shapes and decorating them with holiday themes, like Halloween, Christmas and Easter...call them lawn decorations and light them up! If that does not work start getting even weirder with the stacks and call them "modern art" ...heck that place in NYC has crap constructed from old toilet seats mounted on a typewriter and they call it art and douches actually pay admission to come look at it.
Don't get me started on HOA's I have a house I built in such a community that we own and Jens mom lives in, I built it as an investment and it has the best of everything, from granite counters to 9' basement, 2x6 walls and ultra efficient heat and air. I got a notice a couple of years ago from the HOA that our sprinkling system was putting water on the next door neighbors lawn and they complained, I changed it to water in the middle of the night and they still complained...got my redneck buddy attorney involved who trades me legal services for yard mulch and work and he has "papered" them to death with all kinds of crazy requests that has basically bankrupted the HOA to the point that last year they cancelled their holiday party...I let them know that they could back off at any time and I would stop, so far things have been quiet the last few months.

You have a choice to not live within a community.
If you choose to live within one there will be "rules", regulations and ordinances... it-is-what-it-is, and it ain't likely to get better.
I'll repeat that... it-is-what-it-is, and it ain't likely to get better... it's gonna' get worse, much worse over the next few years.
I turned my back on community living decades ago and never looked back... no regrets.

They pissed off a guy in Potsdam NY, and he decorated the front yards of his properties with toilets, they had some nice flowers in the bowls, still blooming last week, when I was through!

Google Heidelberg Project here in Detroit and look at the pictures the whole block is decorated with junk.

Where I live if you make your yard nice like concrete driveways and such you get taxed on it. But if you have junk in your yard you get fined. Townships screw you anyway they can to make money. I have a huge pile of bucked up wood in my front yard now. I have cool neighbors but the township send around guys who write tickets for stuff and put them in mailbox. I once got summons for dismantling a vehicle in front yard because hood was off and grill was out. I was putting a new cowl hood and grill in truck. I can't see how anyone can say anything about firewood though. I guess I will find out soon enough.

I've had a couple of notices over the years regarding storing a trailer on my property. It's not exactly a small one, either. it's a 28' enclosed car trailer. I spoke to the local code enforcement guy and told him I wasn't paying to store it in some commercial yard where is would be at high risk for theft and that in no uncertain terms was it leaving my property. Last time I was contacted was 4 or 5 years ago and I haven't heard anything about it since. Maybe you should try telling them to just go away.
