That transmission has a very long tail shaft, there are no bearings at the end, so it will not take any side load. Forget belts and pulleys directly mounted on the transmission. (The last bearing is where the case halves bolt together.) As I recall, the cars had splines at the end, and the trucks had a four bolt flange for the U-joint.

If I had to go with a pulley system, I would use a setup using two pillowblock bearings so there wouldn't be any side load.

This tranny has a universal joint with a four-bolt flange. I plan to build a corresponding flange with a keyed shaft on which to mount a lovejoy connector.
