I'm listening on 7.240

I'll be listening on 7.240 Mhz LSB tonight [Tuesday, 10/11] after 2000 hours EST if anybody wants to give it a try, if there's not a net in progress. Foreign broadcast may make it impossible.

I still didn't get the EDZ for 40 back in the air this weekend, but will try again..maybe we can hookup next week.

Maybe 1500 watts at 10 ghz through an antenna aimed at a tree? Just burn it down with microwaves!!! ;)

Now that's an idea Fiasco; I can see now, STIHL technology break through! NO BAR, NO CHAIN! The new MS-44000 RF-powered timber saw!:dizzy:

KC0JAL is my call sign - got a Yaesu VX-5 HT when I got my Technician in 2000. Don't use it much except when the weather gets bad. We have a local Weather Net that I used to participate in, but not in a few years.

I found it kind of hard to program freq. in, and to understand repeaters when traveling etc. I really need to re-visit the hobby, I do find it interesting and am sure I will renew prior to my 10/2010 expire date.

Kc0ogg here! Used to have a dual bander but she fried on me now have 2 1500m Yaseus and a handheld that I need to read the directions on again. Wife is Kc0ogf. Not into it as much as we were once but haven't lost interest completely. Better get ready to renew in 2010 like the guy above.

N2DAT (Nothing 2 Drink After Ten). Extra class, licensed around 1980. HF CW is my passion although lots of 2-meter FM gear also. Been innactive for a while but you guys have got me thinking.

Wow, you guys are WAY cooler than I thought you were all along! Wonder if there is some correlation between wood burners and radio active people?

73's from VE7 SCM , don't have my tower up on my house right now as I am renovating. I need to send my mobile in for repairs.
Ham has mostly died out here don't know why. But I am eager to get up and running again.

You know to answer my own question I think it's because of cell phones and cheap long distance telephone calls. But there's something romantic about sending smoke signals. 73 VE7SCM

Speaking of radio, while cutting firewood yesterday I found an old telegraph line running from Surprise City to Pine City, about 8 miles, both ghost towns now, built during the gold rush of 1898. It was broken in spots and I found two rotted cabins near by. Most of the line was on the ground or strung from trees. I'm sure a few caribou got tangled up in the wire. I should get the metal detector out and follow the line and see what I can find.
Glad my saw didn't hit any.
John
