I got my ms170 out today,,, I wanted a little bit long bar on it so I got my bar adaptor out and mounted a large mount huskie 32" b/c,,,, it did decent in 12" wood but then I tried it in a 30" dia red oak log and it just would not cut,,, it fell on its face,,, I nursed it half way through the log but once I put any pressure on the saw it would just fall on its face,,,, I know comp is good,,, maybe it needs a new fuel line and a set of points??? I am at a lose on this,, any help would be appreciated

Pics or it never happened. Probably the wrong bar oil is your problem.

Its cause your flux capacitor is out of flux.

Maybe a 32" bar on a 170 is more than it was built for,esp. In a 30" log.

170s don't like anything shorter than 36". What it's doing is the chainsaw equivalent of spitting in your face.

I'm thinking the 32" b/c put the overall balance of the saw a bit forward.

I'd try a 40" bar and that will allow you to stand back a bit more. opcorn:

Piltz has the cure for that! Your MS170 dreams of being a hot saw, and for a nominal fee it can be!

Put a WT215 on it and muffler mod it... add a Shlitz super 16 tooth sprocket on 'er and let it rip !!!

It's the needle limiters. Bust them out and richen the H and she'll pull a 48" bar.

Husky bars can't be run on stihls, they're not built for the torque output

Husky just don't have a bar strong enough for a 170...

I'm guessing the problem is in your oil mix. As in too much oil, not enough "power". You know what has even more power than 50:1?

100:1! Twice as much power!
