hickory? tree Id

The first two pics are of one tree and the third is another. I think these are hickory but I am not sure. I haven't seen them with the leaves. Anybody?

My guess on this tree is poplar. Anybody?

Maybe a Shellbark Hickory. If you can, grab some leaves that seem to be common around the base of the tree and take a pic of those. If it's shellbark the leaves will be big and flat with toothed edges.

Pictures from further away looking straight at the trunk would give us a better idea of the actual bark pattern. Those shots straight up the trunk kind of distort the patterns. I agree, the first three look like black cherry.

They look like Black cherrys to me and the other looks like a dead cotton wood or pine. Where in NY are they?
