Hey guys,I'm a newbie, and this is my first post. After reading the chainsaw
posts,I learned that my "yellow pull cord handled" Homelite Trimmer,is one
of those P.O.S. Chinese one's,so I'm not suprised by all the issues I've been
having with it. Here goes, the primer bulb was cracked,so I replaced it,and the
proper sized fuel line, that attatched to it. I primed it a few times and tried
to start it,no go. It usually takes about 8-10 pumps to get this junk trimmer
started. This time the bulb got stuck down and wouldn't come up. I took the
plug out,and added a few drops of mix, into the cylinder, and it started right
up,until it raced and leaned out and shut off. After bleeding all the fuel lines
and still having the bulb stuck down, after only one pump,I loosened the 2
holding screws for the bulb hold down plate,to hopefully release the vapor
lock issue,I'm assuming. Same damn problem. What the heck, could be causing
the bulb to be stuck down, only after one pump? Even with the fuel line off
the primer base,it was still sucked in,and wouldn't pop up,unless I loosened
the 2 base holding screws. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

take it back to HD and get your money back

It was given to me by my father-in-law,about 4 years ago. I didn't realize
it was such a POS,until all the typical problems started, and thus ticked me
off,to no end. It started acting up,when I raised it up and down, hard to
start(Always),and replacing the strings, was like a 15 minute chore compared
to the newer setups.Anyone know,if the new Huska's are any good? They have like a 9 lb. one at Lowe's for $250,or should I just go get a Echo from
a real dealer? The most annoying issue with the Homey,is the pull cord seems to act like it's slipping like crazy, when pulled, like the flywheel isn't even
being turned fully, with each pull. Should I go for a newer 4 stroke,or the old faithful 2 stroke? Thanks guys.

Give it back, or throw it in the dumpster and move on.
I also had a trimmer like this brand new didnt make it 2 yrs!
Went and got a husky have had it 2 yrs not 1 prob, best thing I ever did except my father in law wants my husky all the time! LOL

Sounds like a line is clogged or the carb is dirty, the bulb not popping back up is probably caused by a vacuum.

I have a Husqvarna 325lx that I have had for 9 years it still runs perfect. I also have a new Stihl fs90 that i like but the husky is lighter, either will serve you well.

You never know with this stuff. I have one of the little Homie trimmers, bought for $10 at a yard sale 5-6 yr ago. It's small, but good around the yard, and one of the most reliable two strokes I've had. A few pumps and it's off, even after sitting all winter! Unfortunately, the blue plastic throttle trigger broke th eother day and I can't find a replacement. If anyone has a junker, please let me know by PM.
Thanks,

Pitch it! I have the same issue with a crapsman that I bought new 3 years ago. Last year I fixed it as much as I used it. Mite turn up as one of those scrap yard finds.

Bought one of those close-out John Deeres this winter. So far so good.

The one thing that I didn't check,is the pickup screen. I just had the carb
off it and apart, not too long ago, since it was acting up,when I would raise
it up,sometimes it would stall. It worked good after the carb cleaned, and adjusted, but it's still junk. Thanks for the advice,I missed that one,for some
unknown reason. It's always the basic, obvious things,I seem to overlook, looking for the real complicated fixes.LOL.
I'm going to scrap her,for a new Husky or anything is better, than this Homey chinajunk.

Does anyone know what the spark plug gap is for these China Homeys?
It was at like .020-.022,but I put it to .030,just for the heck of it,since I
never got the manual with it. I only have a fuel issue,as of now,but having
the proper plug gap will never hurt, once.if ever,I figure out what's causing
this darn vac. issue with the primer bulb being stuck down, after only one
pump. The bulb not operating properly is causing the carb to not get any or
enough fuel to start the engine, since she would always take like 8 pumps
to start when she was cold. That amount of pumps, just seems way to many
to me,to be normal,is it? Thanks guys.
