I'm rebuilding my first scored saw a 261/262xp, and I've got the muriatic acid and a ball hone for the cylinder walls, but how do you generally clean the ports and top of the cylinder? They are covered with carbon/melted aluminum. Only the cylinder walls are chrome, right? So I don't want the acid on those other areas.

I just scrape with a small screwdriver or pick. but ocassionaly I'l use a 1 inch maroon color (medium) 3M pad in a die grinder.

I've found one of the wife's emery boards idea for the ports. When the board is too worn or clogged just wrap a piece of 150 grit wet or dry paper over it.
