I want to upgrade to a 52mm on my 372xp.
The serial tag dates it as a 2012 saw though I wonder if it is not a saw cobbled together from parts, its a craigs saw.
This meteor piston and a hyway jug from the greece guy on ebay looks like a fit. He includes caber rings.

I sent him a question if it will fit a 2012 saw and he does not know.
I'm not going to spend more than what he is asking for a aftermarket.

Has anyone had experience with this jug on this year saw?
Does anyone know what I need to look for in matching a aftermarket jug to my saw?

Is the difference in the xtorq a porting issue?

I guess what your saying is that I'd have to reverse it to a plain 372.

Guessing there is not a 52mm for the 372xp xtorq.

Maybe I'm just going to have to clean up my jug if I can and get new piston and rings.

The xtorq have a different top cover...handle..intake setup. The 52mm will fit...but there is a significant amount of stuff that you'd need to change as well.
The only thing that has to be swapped is the topend and intake boot. You actually want to keep the XTorq carb and filter setup. The cylinder covers are different but do not require replacement unless for aesthetic reasons.

I found the videos today of the chainsawguy porting what looks like the 52mm cylinder for the 372xp. He had the base shaved first.

Is this the significant amount of stuff that needs changed that is mentioned above?

I could do this work but would need someone to shave the base and then also need to know what parts I would need to buy ahead of time so I could see how cost effective it would be.
I'm thinking you'll tell me all I'll need is a different size boot along with this dremel work that he does.
So it would be shave base, dremel, change boot.

Shaving the base is not at all required.

I want to keep this under 100 I imagine your talking 130 to 200. That becomes unmanageable, gotta keep it real.

So will this work?
get this 52mm top end http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cylinder-Ki...451853?hash=item5d6373300d:g:vQEAAOSw6wRXAh02
Do the dremel work that chainsaw guy does in these videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL3FAF89526A35C6D7&v=D4TnMPQTtPM
and get new boot.
would it be the intake boot for the 390 as was mentioned above in the 51.4 cylinder (by the way hard to find cylinder)

That's not a 52mm topend. It's 50mm. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Have you ever ported a cylinder before? It's not something you just decide to do overnight. There's a lot involved. A lot of studying and planning is required.

Opps, this was the 52mm Kit I was looking at.

Am using an 044 that I ported. Have to get it shaved or decked due to the squish is so way out there that nothing is being squished and havn't put a timing wheel on it yet.
The porting must have turned out ok. It has so much compression some times it just jerks right out of my hand again and again when I'm starting it. But it has no comp release.
It's on th 4th tank and just starting to use it wide open.
It is running rich too but It seems to have wayyy more power with the 52mm and the porting work.

I'm not building race saws but am lightly widening, beveling and polishing. That and sizing up from say 50mm to 52mm if it's available and within reason. For the moment milling saws are what I'm after an 70-ish cc seems to be a good range. I do understand how little I do know about this Mr Sneller concerning the planning you mentioned due to the videos and write up's shared by all you good people that teach an share. After having used acid on a cylinder I really enjoyed your vid about not using acid to remove aluminum on a cylinder.
I'm like a little monkey - I learn, monkey see monkey do Ive always said.
Biggest reason these projects have to be within budget plans is because if I f-up I can start again with out any heart ache.
