I called the Husqvarna Support Sales Division 1-704-597-5000 this morning. Both saws 560 and 562 are going to be available in the U.S. and the projected delivery date is mid October.They did say that because of the uncertainty in the economy the delivery date was not set in stone but Husqvarna Corporate wants the saws on the market for the fall season.

That's about one year after the first projected delivery date....if it happens then.
Here's my take on the situation if Husqvarna is in production or got some units in the warehouse they better turn them loose because the U.S. economy is about to head south and Stockholm won't be selling squat.

Neal, you just don't understand the delivery date formula.
Take the original projected delivery date and add 3 months. After the three months have elapsed, add 4.5 months to be followed by a quarterly, rather than monthly prediction which will then be followed by three consecutive "two more month" extensions, culminating in one final quarterly projection in which the saws may actually show up only to be further delayed for an additional three months due to currency fluxuations and one last two month delay due to an outbreak of German Measles at the factory, planted by a mole from Stihl.

I wouldn't be getting a brand new saw now. Better bet is to get a few running saws that have been wicked common, known proven long time reliable and all the weaknesses identified and work arounds developed, and for which spare parts are available real cheap aftermarket now, and stock up on those parts for those saws. Oddball, "collector", obsolete and the opposite end, brand new requiring OEM for everything..no cheap or easy parts.....just not very prudent in a crashing economy. Imported anything gonna shoot way the heck up, and fast.....not a matter of if, but when.

Zogger, I think Husqvarna has done their homework on that saw. If the 560 arrives in October I am going to the dealer to check for machining and casting craftsmanship. If it has a good feel and is well balanced then I will probably bring it home. You have to admit that saw has a lot of eye appeal.
My father and grandfather made it through the last depression and learned a few tricks. One of them was just as you described. If you bought a car, make it a used car that has a good track record of reliability and that had a big production run. The availability of spare parts in the wrecking yards will keep it running for years.
That said, I wouldn't mind getting a 555/560. If the money is going to hyperinflate, I might as well turn the paper into something tangible before it becomes a poor substitute for proper toilet paper.
Terry, I have been expecting this downturn for several years now. I've been gathering hand tools like one man and two man crosscut saws along with german and swedish made axes and splitting mauls. It is basically going to get down to food,water and firewood. When I built my log home 25 years ago I built it with a full basement and what is amazing is the fact that the basement stays a constant 70 degrees year round with no heat or air. Zogger do you remember the heads up posting that I did back in January and it got moved to the political section. I get my Foxfire books, that were done in North Georgia, out occasionally and bone up on the survival skills.

Same with my relatives. I just pestered them relentlessly for stories of the great depression. The thing that really stands out, folks in the country were able to survive even with no money, they had wells, chickens, gardens and firewood. Folks in town had to stand in line at soup kitchens, etc.
The previous great depression we still had like half the population living on farms, now it is less than 2% of the population. Meaning 98% of the population will be scrambling for necessities of life.
Gonna get real ugly.

Great to hear the confirmation on the 560xp! I think Saw Troll has finally gotten to me and I think that may be the one on my hitlist. 
Hopefully they'll hit the market before too long. I know the US economy is a little sketchy but where else is a better opportunity to sell saws? I have to think the US will still rank among the top places to roll out a new saw.....unless they just decide to table it for a while. I certainly hope that won't the case.

Tiger Rag, maybe Husky will make that mid October delivery date since the 555 is already out and the 560 and 562 use a lot of the same parts.
Zogger, I don't worry about the country boys getting by because the are able to do for themselves.
