Slept in until 6:30.
Took the tarp off the pile of splits to let them air out.
Finished my axe handle, split the quarters in the cart.
Emptied the manure spreader, brought the wheel Horse down and hooked it up to the wood cart.
Took out the torch and burned off the dried Japanese stiltgrass that had grown up all over the white oak in my field. The field is practically mud right now, but the weed was dry. It worked perfectly - there's a lot more wood left up there than I thought. But it's too muddy to get a cart up there now.
Used the 142 to cut up a bunch of the oak branches I couldn't see before and made a nice pile of smalls.
Cut up a bunch of small storm dropped trees that were in the way around the edge of the lower field.
Went over to a spot where I have a bunch of large ash chunks split in half, and finished splitting a bunch of them. Was using the 142 to noodle a couple of twisted crotch parts (I've never done that before!), and noticed the 142 chain was spinning at startup.
Heard my daughter yelling about something, ran down to the house to find the dishwasher had flooded the kitchen floor. Fill valve was stuck open. Shut off the water and shop vac'd the floor.
Went out worked on the 142 - clutch spring broke. Took one off the Wild Thing that's out of action at the moment, fixed that.
Put up a ladder and climbed up to check the chimney top. There's a tree in the way and I have to put it up a bit steeper than I'm comfortable with - I HATE climbing it that way, feeling like if you lean back too far it might come off the house. About 24' up. Not too bad up there.
Moved the big stove in the basement and leaned the flue, shop vac'd out the top of the stove. Moved it all back and put it back together.
Took the dishwasher apart and fixed the fill valve - well, I didn't really "fix" it because didn't really find anything wrong with it, so it will probably do it again. But it works now.
Wife went out so I fed the dogs and my son and me.
Fired up the little stove again.
Do other people live like this? I heard a story once that some folks spend their time watching other people play games with balls and drinking beer. Wonder what that's like?
