I'm looking to buy a tachometer to check out my saws (all used before I bought them).

What brands are recommended? Not Recommended? Good value?

Thanks

Oops...

I didn't think to search.. :) Thanks for the tip. Thanks for the suggestions!

what's one that uses an optical sensor? I want to tach other turning things (DIY compresser/welder etc.) at fairly low revs (~300) as well as saws

They're not the best for chainsaws, but it's also handy to have a sirometer (Vibratach.) You can use them on equipment that don't have ignition systems or even have visable moving parts, as long as they vibrate a little.
