I haven't had any luck finding instructions for making loops out of bulk saw chain. I have experience working with roller chain and riveting sections on cutter bars, so I think I could figure it out with a little trial and error. It would be nice to find some specific instructions. I already have a breaker and spinner and 50' roll ordered. Anyone have a good website handy?

Flashy,

Dang if I ain't up for a little schoolin' myself.

I can spin up a Motorcycle chain, or Harvester drive chain with the best of them, but could learn a WHOLE lot about Saw chains.;)

Maybe we can get Tommy to do us a Video tutorial worthy of an Oscar!

Stay safe!

here is a good vid of William spinning. after vid a few more should link up to veiw or just search william spinning on the tube.

spinning takes a little trial and error. go easy and watch for bind.

when you get really good by hand then you can try this drill trick.:) ric

Yikes!!!!, he's good. But he's using like real equipment. I've got pretty good with a hammer, punch, and piece of railroad tie. I'll bind up one in 10 anymore. I'm getting better.

Sawbones:

Thanks for the vid. I am amazed that that is thee only one. I got the breaker and spinner yesterday, and am waiting for the chain. Hope I don't waste too many repair links in the learning process. The instructions that came with the b&s aren't very good but will have to do.

start breaking old chain.. get centered real good. what chain are you using.

I might have some extra repair links laying around

a little pratice on old chain might save some greif

It was a nice surprise to see a friend of mine and his wife linked in your video! (in the previews at the bottom)

Jim Poor helped me out years ago, inspiring new ideas in blacksmithing , he no longer shoes horses, maybe his own, but turns out some of the finest hand-forged tools your going to find!
