Homelite, those saws are known to have oiler problems. Maybe you got a good one.

No, I did not buy it. I was surfing CL and ran across it. I have seen the Deere saws made by Echo and Efco, but not one made by Homelite. Just curious what it was.

I have seen more than one of those with wonky chain brakes. I can't remember how they go bad, but it is pretty much due to a crummy design. The good thing is that the B&C will fit other stuff, as will the coil. If you get real lucky, the bar nuts and primer will be in good shape.

I have seen the Homelight/Deere XL12's and almost bought one NIB to hold onto. Never saw one of the mass-merchandiser ones. $45 is pretty optimistic, IMO.
