I need to get a big saw. I want an all around saw for felling and bucking and would allow me to do some milling as well. I am leaning strongly towards the JRed 2188 in fact I am due to pick it up on Wednesday. It comes with a 36 inch bar and I would get a 24 inch to go with it.

Any thoughts? I am figuring on using it the majority of the time with the smaller bar.

are you definitely picking it up on wednesday, I am one town away from you and have a 2186 I was on the fence about selling, would save you some money over a brand new one. PM me if intersted. I run a 32" full skip all the time, and run a 36" on my alaskan mill for milling. Runs and cuts good, sometimes I take a 24" off one of my 372xp and put on on the 2186, and you can pretty much stand on the saw while it is buried and it will keep on cutting.
