Are these two saws pretty well the same saw? I'm working on an old J-red 670 and need an intake boot and was thinking that a Husky 268 should be the same. I can find one on line for the 268, but having a hard time finding the J-red boot. It's been awhile, but I was thinking they are pretty much the same saw.

No, all the Huskys on this chassis (except for possibly the LATE 272ss, seems like I remember reading something about the later of the Brazilian saws switched to a boot but not sure) used an intake block of one variation or another. Only the Jonsered 625 and 670 used a boot. The Husqvarna 162SE and Jonsered 630 use the same block, the Husqvarna 61 uses a unique to it block, and the 268 and 272 share a block.

I just found a NOS 670 boot on Ebay and bought it. Looks like I'm going to have to take off, or at least loosen up the cylinder to replace the boot.
