I know it's a great thing for Google Page Rank to exchange links with other sites that are of the same topic as yours. I noticed a thread earlier and someone was doing the same thing.

If anyone wants to exchange links please PM me with your web site address. Please include the page that your adding my web site too and I will then add yours to my web site immediately.

Come on guys, forget it, dont PM me. Just post your site and I'll add your link to mine in the links section at http;//www.sacovalleytreeservices.com/links.html

I'll add your link in good faith that you add mine to your site. It's a 2 second process and it will help boost all participants page ranks amongst the google search

Alright, my business web site is listed on Google. http://www.sacovalleytreeservices.com

The main topic of my web site is Tree and Arboriculture.

In order to get my site listed higher (and yours if you have one) is to link to other sites with the same sort of content. If you own your own tree business like me, we could exchange links and it would help boost our page rank. Which would ultimately make us list higher in Google.

I will add a link to my site in my Links section for any site that is related to anything that has to do with trees. But I will only add the link on my site if the person who owns the site I am linking to adds my link to there site. It is called a reciprocal link.

In a community as large as this, with many business owners I am sure if we started a link exchange it would help a lot of our sites get inbound links and list higher and get a higher page rank.

If you were to own a tree site, like myself. And reciprocate links with a dating site it would do nothing for page rank. Within this thread, people could offer to link to me, I will add there link to my site they will add mine to theres. And then others that are viewing can get in on the action so that I am not the only one getting a whole bunch of links.

i said previously to PM me with your website and I will add it and you can add mine to yours but so everyone can get in on the action we should keep it public instead of private.

Again, my site is http://www.SacoValleyTreeServices.com

Add my link to your site, let me know when it is done and you will see (with a couple hours grace time) that I will add your site to mine. Just make sure you let me know you've added my link.

This seems like a harmless topic and request. What would anyone be flaming others about?

M.Green - SVTS: I don't think you caught the jist of my question.

I understand the concept of search engine optimization. What I don't know is how one links one website to another, what effects it may have on the usefulness of the owners website, and what drawbacks might be discovered by this practice.

I could be gung-ho to link your name to my website, but I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do it.

Well,

You wouldn't want to add my website to your main page. I am also a web designer so it's much easier for me. You would create a page on your site called Links. And it takes a simple one line of code to add a link to your site.
<a href="http://www.SacoValleyTreeServices.com">Saco Valley Tree Services</a>

If that didn't show up as a link because I quoted it. That is what you would add to your links page in order for my link to show up on your site.

The only drawback you would experience is if you linked a company or tree service site that was located in the area that you do your work in. I work southern Maine. I won't accept link exchanges from the companies in Southern Maine because a client could come to my site, see a southern maine arborist link on it and click over to theres and leave my site. Inlinks and Reciprocals look great in google if they stay on topic. If you add links to your site that have nothing to do with your site then google will care less.

Trying to keep people interested. Please reply if you have a site with a links page and aren't located in Maine.

Regards

Anyone else?

I have had a few replies for the link exchange. Trying to get as many as possible.

My site is listed in Google, Rank is pretty good. Your link will be on http://www.SacoValleyTreeServices.com/links.html (a page in which google crawls and will see your link)

I am interested in trading links with anyone that is not in southern Maine.
