Many years ago thread

Many years ago I laughed at a thread started by someone (perhaps 2008?) saying that they had a lot of surface roots from a tree and someone told them to hack away the "bark" of the roots to stunt their growth and "promote" roots down below. A couple folks admonished, but what stood out was the one person who replied and was rebuked, and then quietly waited a full year before re-responding to see how the tree was doing/to say "I told ya so".

Any chance current folks here remember way back when?

I haven't been here in awhile (in fact, I realize I posted in another forum here somewhat recently and need to respond!)
