should have sent you one of my sharpies ,not one of my chains ,lol
Glad you observed that. I'd never read or heard that. My Dealer told me just use a round .404 file to sharpen it?? Bought a flat 6-sided Vallorbe file to sharpen it. I'll definitely remove the gullets. ThanksClean them gullets out now.

Your dealer don't know what he is talking about. Use a small round file to clear the gullet. The 6 sided file will give you a better angle under the top plate.
Yes outside to in. Might try different angles later.do you have a close up pic of the cutter ,where it was filed ? ,they are kind of hard to focus on with a camera ,so may be hard to take one ,you are filing outside in right ? to get your corner
Only good thing my dealer has sold me was my 660.I was thinking the same thing ,why would someone ruin a perfectly good chisel chain with a round file ?
Here's a picture of me and the wife at Bonnaroo.
Yeah......we was gettin down wit it.
I agree Brian it takes me over 1 hour to ruin a round chain with a bevel file. 72 DL.
Nice pics...very helpful. What angle is that?here i one i hand filed ,notice the strap gets nicked ,that is ok ,just be reasonable how much strap is removed ,seems like line the inside corner up ,rest enough to lightly graze the strap ,and you end up with a pretty fast chain
