The main advantage is that there is more surface area and it takes longer to fill up. For more power, no, if a stock filter can flow enough air for a hot 880 then anything else has a much lower requirement.

My chainsaw dyno will be updated tomorrow evening. I bought a max flow kit for my 460. I have a stock hd and a hd2 filter to test against the max flow. The first test run on my dyno showed a nice gain on my 460 when the air filter was removed so I'm sure the max flow should help a little. The dyno doesn't lie. I'll post the results in a new thread. Sorry about the delay on the dyno fellas. Its been crazy at work and I just havent had the time to work with the dyno.
