I vote pm850. With sp bottom brace. Tank to brace isnt right. If it were a sp81 tank the handle and brace would fit into each other. Electronic ignition would help it be a pm850. As mentioned the muffler is pm850. Lol, this is fun to guess the frankensaw

I picked this up at an auction, but cannot find much info on it.

Looks like it needs a recoil and spark plug boot.
Piston looks good.

I’m curious about these black non-brake clutch covers with the newer Mc logo: I’ve seen them over here too on a PM850 and some PM700s; my PM700 frankensaw also has one.

I remember reading somewhere that Black & Decker were committed to adding chain brakes to all the Mc saws, but these covers are clearly from that era or newer?
Do they date from the early days after B&D took over, or did they come on specific saws? Or were they optional, an alternative to the braked covers?

Just something I’ve been wondering about…

Optional. Ive seen a few nos ones for sale. If cheap enough i buy them. They are much lighter.

Sp81E??! With a 1 piece electonic coil. Essentially youve got a pm850.

The black covers are also magnesium jethro

Edit, pm850 model number also.

It does have the yellow tank.
Which does look like it has lived on that saw.
My 81 and 80 both had black tanks.

Just the bottom brace and the clutch cover but really just the brace
