Ms 260 carb needle

Acquired this saw as part of a job lot. It had a few problems but mostly it won’t accelerate. vacuum pressure check …perfect. put a repair kit in the carb nothing. change the plug reset the flywheel still the same.
anyway the carb has a red plastic limiter on the high jet. i Removed this cleaned out the jet and retuned and it works perfectly. The limiter had been butchered and came out in bits. The question is will the jet move without the limiter . I did try to put a spring on but it only has a short thread.

Not sure only way to find out is to run it.

easiest fix I can think of is getting a reuseable threadlocker the ones that don't dry so you can still turn it but it won't turn on it own.

Just looking at those red limiters I'm not sure what they do to add any friction to the needle. But, a Stihl dealer that does repairs should have some laying around, or can order them anyway. So, you can stick one back in if you like.

They either use a spring or an oring on the adjuster screw. Not been a problem in the shop. If you do use locktight (DO NOT recommend) use it VERY sparingly.
