Muffler mod & increased airflow thru filter

I've decided that I'm going to get a bigger saw, currenlty looking for a project 044 or 046. In all the threads I've read, doing a muffler mod really wakes up a saw. One thing puzzles me though, If you perform a mufffler mod I see no posts relating to a better, high performance air filter. Is that something that needs to be added as well or are the stock filters adequate.

The stock HD filter is a fine performer...

You don't need to "mod" the muffler on an 044 or an 046. Just get the factory dual port muffler cover. It's all you will need.

...and yes stock HD filters on the 044 and 046 will be fine.
