I was reading a thread here the other day and someone, but I can't remember who, stated that his muffler modded 346 Husky ran better than another 346 that had been ported. Would it be due to a poor porting job? I am curious because I'm thinking of having my Stihl261 ported but don't want it wrecked by someone who does'nt know what they are doing or hands me a bill for porting but the saw has no noticeable gains in performance......Do I even know what I'm talking about? One thing I do know is that comming across this site has given me CAD.

Me too

Also thinking about purchasing ms261. What mods can be done to this saw? Has anyone modified theres?

Just my opinion but I think modding a saw should be done for a competition saw.For regular use keep it stock and if its performance isn't adequate get a bigger saw.

The saw modds well, its a little tricky to get all the power out of it, but Terry of Sawzilla makes a mean one.

I want to get one, but don't use the Modded 260 enough to justify another 50cc saw.

Do a muffler mod, pull the base gasket (if clearance allows), a proper tune and a razor sharp chain. Will cut right along with 60cc saws all day and less weight.

A MS261 can be made into a monster.
