Well, tried noodling this one, much better results. Using the shorter bar assured me of not going too deep. The sawbuck was a big help too.

Only problem was having to clean the 500 of noodles a couple of times.

Did one today from a knotty piece of hard, dead oak. The plunge cuts were, shall we say, "exciting" with the razor sharp full chisel on a 441R M-Tronic that's really starting to stretch it's legs these days. Probably around 20 tanks now and it just rips.

Used the noodles to get it going and it did take a while. I finally hit it with my leaf blower and she took right off. Burned for a solid 8 hours. I'll post pics later.

BTW, another flame colorizer I've used it a piece of cheap vinyl garden hose inside a section of copper pipe. Multi color.
 
did mine a little different. had a 4' chunk (20" dia.) of maple with a whole lotta manure spreader in it. was going to throw the whole thing in a big fire, however i decided to try this.

i started it with about half a pint of citronella oil. smelled pretty good:)
it burned well into the night.
