A poker for poorly placed splits, dust pan and brush, broom, small ash shovel when cleaning, gloves for emptying ash pan, fire extinguisher, and an outside door within 3 feet to bring in wood, empty ashes (maybe every 2 weeks) and let heat out when the house is too hot.

One that's always in use for me, just not near the stove, is a $32 NT Log Cart. Every week or two I load it up with a couple hundred pounds of (typically) 16-inchers from covered stack to an unheated work ares, next to a Grizzly 14' bancsaw.

Every now & then I bring in a bag of splits from the cart as-is for E-W loading or buzz them in half for N-S (smaller fire.) Store the longer ones on some racks near the stove for final drying, stack the smaller ones on the floor.

Quick, simple, cheap & dirty. Okay, not dirty.
