Need a little 044 help

I have removed many rubber plug boots from other saws, from cars, etc. Today, believe it or not, I went to remove the plug boot from my 044 (haven't touched it since new) and discovered it to be different. There is a round rubber gasket around the plug with a lanyard hooking back over the plug boot. I tried a little tugging but nothing. I don't want to start ripping and tearing at this set up. How do I get the darn plug boot off?? Time for a look at the plug, probably a plug change and a compression check. Thanks.

Pull harder... It'll come off. It does on mine anyway.

Thanks-- I'm glad to know I don't have to dismantle half the saw to get the darn plug out. Plug boot today-- P/C tomorrow. Skies the limit.
