Just took a short holiday whilst downloading you IPL's, sorry about having a shot at you, your intentions are good, i'll see what i can do to redo these and if successfull i'll let you know how i went.

I guess Openoffice tends to make large PDFs,and the smaller ones end up blocky. I have the PNGs yet if you want them

I have quite a few manuals scanned. The carb ref is gonna be big.

The large image files are what's causing the "problem", but it can't be avoided if good detail for viewing/printing are to be maintained.  Maybe the best compromise would be to crop the images to just the diagrams and reproduce the text manually, though I'm not volunteering for the effort.

well, I can scan at 75 or 150 dpi.. at 75, the size is manageable, and the quality sucks.. precisely the opposite at 150. and since gocr sucks.....
