Well I went down to my local dealer yesterday to get a dp muffler for my month old 460. He had to order it and actually stopped by the distributors house that night to pick it up. Needless to say I was thrilled with the service. Anyhow, when I went down there this morning when he pulled the muffler I heard the words and I quote " well, well, what do we have here. My stomach sank as I was almost sure I knew what that meant. Yep, scored piston and jug. As he cursed the EPA and there standards I explained that I only use 93 octane fresh fuel and Stihl Ultra. I happen to have my Ms 310 with me because I wanted him to put that on the tach as well and the piston was perfect. I've been running the heck out of that saw with same gas that I've been using in in the 460. Do they actually set these saws that lean from the factory? I've heard of Dolmars being lean from the factory but not much about the Stihls so I wasn't that concerned about checking the tune right off the bat. Big mistake. I will never take a new factory saw and run it with out tuning ever again. New piston and jug is ordered and I should have the saw back next week. Dealer kept telling me I did not do anything wrong I say this still stinks!!!!:censored:
