I just came across a new Dolmar 114 powerhead (cleaning out the basement).
Used to sell these 25 or so years ago. I don't know if its appropriate to basically advertise this unit here. I would think its unusual to find new old stock like this and I thought someone might appreciate knowing this model exists. Let me know... woojr

I cut allot of firewood with one of these models in th e80's. I don't recall having any issues with it. However, as you may recall I am having an ignition problem with a 119. I am pulling the flywheel after this post, but just looking at the design, it appears little air moves under it (?cooling the unit?). Especially with the symptom of fading spark associated with run time and engine temp. Is the ignition uprade you mentioned a good alternative for the 119 as well? Or is there a heat build up problem to your knowledge? Thanks for your help again, woojr

119 spark

the ignition assys will not interchange between the 114 & the 119 the ign replacement for the 119 comes from the 120 super, 133 super,309 powercut, 143, 343 powercut the part # is 119 140 210 SEM assembly instead of the bosch M.S.R.P. is $143.10 plus S&H

I hate to interupt the thread with a new thought...

I just picked up a Sachs Dolmar 110, 1987 model. Do you have any information on this saw? Specs, etc. It runs great, but someone took the chain brake handle off. The brake band is still inside the clutch cover and seems to work, but is missing the main handle for the brake. Are there any models that might interchange? It seems very well built. Has a Walbro carb and a funky looking muffler that is screaming for a mod! Were there any ignition problems with this model also?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Mmmmm,
Sorry. I stopped the business before this model. In fact I really can't picture what it looks like. One of the other guys here.. Dolmar Tech Manager, led me to a site www.atlanticpowerinc.com which has a parts directory for Dolmar stuff. If you look through there and find that it has the same pieces as the 112-119 series I can help you out. I just don't have anything newer on paper. In fact (Idon't know how to do much with links and stuff) if you go to the thread "119 woes" and read down a few posts, you'll see his link to that site. (having an interesting time with the 119 also).
I've been looking at this brand new 114 and can't decide if I want to fire it up or put it on ebay for someone who might have a collector thing going on.

For what it's worth, I had a 114 that wouldn't spark if you dragged it down a street with a 36 inch bar attached. I added one of the cheap little electronic aftermarket modules and had many years of good cutting after that. It was quite a few years back, and I can't remember if I used the version for point replacement or CDI replacement. My guess it was the electronic ignition version. Good luck.

Strange how these things work. I actually had great luck both with the 114 I ran and the ones I sold (not that many..20?). My current sparking issue is with the 119. Its a weird one. After the best part of a tank of fuel its spark fades. I can get a spark but it needs to be pulled really fast. THen it won't fire but 5 minutes later you can pull a decent sprk, 10 later a nice big blue one. I am going to cut the casing lip away from under the flywheel to allow some air uder it... who knows, maybe a few degrees will let it run all day. woojr
