New Style 880 muffler on 084?

Has anyone tried this? I'd like to see if it can be done, maybe a block or plate would need to be machined for lower mount holes? I have some 084s, but no new style 088 muffler. I guess I can buy one and give it a try, but was wondering if someone has both.

I've been told it doesn't work, what a person could do is get an old muffler either 3d print or get a mold created and get 50-100 made.

You will need a spacer for the rear half to the cylinder and another to match up the holes to the case.
