How did Homelite date code them???

Welcome! There's an old thread here somewhere covering the Homelite SN date decoding deal. I think it was also reposted in the Homelite thread. That UT# is indeed for an early '80s SXL-AO if I'm not mistaken. Does it have a Zama C2 or Wabro/Homelite SDC carb? Is the manual oiler button one long plastic piece, or is it a plastic button on top of a brass stem that passes through a threaded seal body? This saw family was built continuously from late 1963 through sometime in 1994. Yep. Over 30 years. Fantastic old saws...

Edit:

I found a paper where I'd printed the decoding thing out.

Looks like your SXL-AO was built on the 82'nd day of 1979. Should have a Walbro/SDC and the brass multipiece manual oiler setup.
