My grandfather gave me his John Deere branded chainsaw. CS 46. I believe it is a rebranded Oleomac 947, which is identical to an efco 147. Is that correct? It has sat for at least a couple years without being ran.
It starts easy enough and runs on high idle but won’t idle and usually won’t run wide open before cutting out. I removed the limiter tabs and tried adjusting the carb but not much changed. I removed the carb and sprayed some carb cleaner through it but that didn’t change much either. I believe it needs a new carb or carb kit.
Are there any other models with interchangeable carbs? I’m not having any luck finding a carb online except a $10 unit made by farmertec.
Or if the symptoms don’t sound carb related to you I’m open to other ideas.
If it was any other JD saw I’d probably junk it but since he gave it to me I’d like to at least get it running.
