well i thought yesterday would be the day after approx 19 years i was going to get one of my grand daddy's/ dads saw running

well i was wrong

i do want to thank modified mark for a lot of his help and the biggest was his thread on the fuel line for a micro xxv

well i ran all new fuel line, new plug , new air filter

got good fire

but it wont start
well i said maybe i ought to check compression

pull 1 30
pull 2 60
pul 3 80-85 psi

i pull cyl top of piston looks like a lot of creosote build up

cyl is smooth but looks kinda stained in places

i know pics would be better but didnt have camera with me

looking for some ideas thanks

Have you checked the carby?, it could be blocked or hard membranes, some crud on top of the piston is nothing to worry about.

I know a lot of people on thissite don't like additives, but try that PB Blaster smallengine tune up. A service guy for one of the rental companies that my company uses turned me on to it. He swears by the stuff. Its great for boosting compression on an old motor.
