why does drt feel like a 2to1 while climbing when its essitonally a redirect

These are two totally different techniques. Ddrt is doubled rope technique. Yes, there is a 2:1 mechanical advantage. DRT is double rope technique, using two distinct tie ins for positioning. Good for limb walking and positioning, Shiite for climbing and canopy access.
 
Ill see if I can dig up the video I ran across by a guy who does a great job explaining how the mechanical advantage works. I'll post the link when I find it. Just to warn you I think it was like sitting through a 6th grade science

Mechanical advantage is also relative to who/what's it's being "applied" to. Ex: climber/hauler/load.
