Have no idea what year this picture was taken but do know it was taken in Stihlaficionado's adopted new home town. The picture was taken in Sandpoint Idaho and said it was going to be used on a big Cedar sale somewhere north of town. Have no idea how the clutching works, will leave that to you guys. Probably came form the big Redwoods of California fame.

That pict has been around the net for quite a while, I have seen it several times in the past. Many of those big two man Stihls had manual clutches.

That pict has been around the net for quite a while, I have seen it several times in the past. To run both powerheads right side up one of them has to run in reverse rotation. Many of those big two man Stihls had manual clutches.

Or rotated gearboxes more than likely.

Thought of that but I see the bar studs and the drive sprocket both facing the camera.

I'd hate to be on either end. Or for that matter, within 400 foot of whatever monster that bar was needed for when it finally fell.

Correct...but on opposite sides of the saws...which is why I figured that the gearbox of the saw on the right of the picture was rotated.

I'd hate to be on the other end of the file after the chain gets rocked or finds a nail .

After thought, that is the most likely scenario, I did not think of the powerheads being on opposite ends. I edited out my original post.

By doing that it makes post 3 sound like it just came out of left field. I was reading along and thought what?

Better to go make a edit without changing the original all together..
