Seeing the NOS Pioneer bar Brian has got me to post mine. I got it along with an awesome Farmsaw from an old timer a few towns over. He bought the bar new in 1963 and never mounted it. Its a Pioneer Durail. The numbers are 470062 24D 4-2 Made in Canada. Its a Hardnose 24", to me its almost artwork. I have the cardbord for it too.

The old NOS stuff is sweet.

Pp655

Recently picked up a Poulan Pro 655 that I'm working on, namely getting the auto and manual oiler to work. I've heard about the Boyesen two stage reed assembly and wonder if it is an improvement in performance?

Nice bar, my book says it fits an IEL HM. Maybe he didn't have a saw that bar fit. Your always digging up good finds.:chainsaw:

Yes, they will give you a little better throttle response and some improvement in the low to mid range. I didn't notice much difference at wot.

Pioneer P11 P12

Here are a couple of the bottom end of the Pioneer line. I have had the P12 for a few years. It was made by Frontier. The P11 was a lot harder to find, It was made by Oleo Mac.

Another nice old saw Jerry.

Can anybody tell me if I can use a 1074/p25/p26 style piston in a 970 jug?

It's two different part numbers but I don't know why.

Nice Jeff, I have a P12 but have never seen the 10 or 11.

Jerry
The P11 is the odd ball. The P10 P12 and P14 are made by Frontier. They all look the same. I have never seen the P14 just going by the literature. That Frontier saw was sold by more companies then any other. I have been told as many as 12 different names, There could be more. Pioneer, Frontier, Jonsered, Husky etc

Good to know Jeff, I knew the P12 was a Frontier, a few of us on the need to start a fight thread have them in various colors, the blue one Cliff has is different, might have been sold by Homelite but there is no markings on it at all.

I have some bigger trees to cut this week so I got out one of the P62's and got it ready. It's running a 36" bar with 404 chain.

I really likes them old yellow saws Ed.:too_sad: That one looks pretty minty!

MUST get a pioneer............

your saw just sparked my interest!

thanks for the itch.

Thanks Guys. I don't run a 36" too often, but I have an Oak to cut that will take every bit of it. It is fun to let the big bar eat, I love the sound of these saws.

I'm trying to grab a P-6* series saw from a local guy on CL. I have not seen pics yet but he says its in good shape, runs and has the full wrap bar. When I go to look at it can you give me some insight on what to look for if anything besides the obvious? He has he has a p5* and P-4* series saws and a 455 he bought new with little use. I'll keep you guys updates on the status of those since I'll probably be able to barely muster up the funds for the p60.

Maybe I can pass along some names for a better deal hehe
