441cm or 576xpat. Don't have much experience in the 70cc class, but I like not having to worry about adjusting a carburetor for the crappy fuel from the pump or the temperature outside or a dirty air filter or the elevation or the humidity or the oil mix ratio that I'm using at the time. I LOVE this kind of technology. Simple and efficient.

run this poll for a few days then take the top 3-5 saws from it and have a runoff. too many choices right now to only pick one.

7900 is my choice. but i am becoming one of those brand biased fools.
second choice would be a 461 though

I agree. too many choices, but wanted to offer enough that all could contribute to the poll. Ive had an xpw, 10mm 044 and 12mm 044. Brad has said several times that his favorite 372 is the 71cc saw. Think I read somewhere that the 75xpw cylinder came off a cutoff saw and makes slightly less rpm. Randy loves the 441cm. 2 of the models above have got me thinking, but want to see how the poll plays out.

my vote #1 would be the 440/460 conversion, though a regular 440 or 460 is certainly no slouch. i'm also very fond of the pre EPA 372XP of the old days .

there are a bunch of old huskys and jonesreds that could be on there too like a 77, 181 and the 288-- seems like the 181s and 288s were real war horses. and the 77 was a torque monster. IIRC.

288 is my favorite saw (no secret), but at 87cc it is in a whole other class.

I vote for the 372 like others. Stock it is a great saw, ported it is a animal.

Don't see any Husqy 576 XP-AT-XT there. Just barely started to get to know mine, but fersher I'm gonna love it. Smooth as silk, even slightly smoother than my Dolly 6100. Super-docile for mid-winter starting. Serious power output. Any cures for the silver paint?

Eagerly awaiting coming of springtime.
The cure for the silver is to buy a clutch cover for a 390.

Dolmar PS-7900 :)

Considering that I have been using my Dolmar PS-6400 since 2006. , the PS-7900 feels just as comfortable and she sure has power to spare. :chainsaw:

Secondary choice?
Can't tell , never used any other saws then my Dolmar's.
I would like to get my hands on any or all of the other saws , give them a try and get an opinion - very unlikely though!

Thus my secondary choice would be a Dolmar PS-7910 with a gutted muffler! ;)

I cannot believe I am the only one who picked the ms460. It is one of my favorite saws. And I do have most of those listed. No love for the big guy.
Ms460 was my favorite . But the old girl is stock . When I go grab a saw from the arsenal and my stock 460 is sitting next to a mastermind 441cmr and mastermind 461 it's a no brained . This kind of explains it

I think a 441 c-m would take a 044/440s lunch money with bigger bars , i never thought much of a stock 044 with 28"
For those that say the 441 is fat and heavy, I don't think they have put enough time on one. They are so smooth. That 440 used to wear me out. I ran the 441 the other day with a 20 inch bar and 8 pin. WOW!

Ive owned and used every saw on that list except the 7910

The filtration for the stihls listed blows

I couldnt pick one..i like the powerband of the 461 for sure...and speed/smoothness/balance/filtration of the 372

7900 is a mean dude..i dont have a favorite.
The HD2 filter on the 440/441/461 is as good as it gets. My choice is my ported 441CMR.
