Chris, I don't think the divide is that clear cut.

Randy, the last I checked they are saying tomorrow.

Will let U know.

Im not tryin to be combative with you mike , but guys who gotta use em all the time appreciate things like weight and filtration and stuff like that , so naturally they have a different perspective than hobby guys.

6' rounds? Methinks not.

Also DF in this region is a lot stronger than it is in CA, and fetches a lot more money at the mills here. Different sub-species. I have split both...

I'm pleased with my 372x-torq. But I have heard it said that the only stihl to own is the 440 the only husky to buy is the 372. Can't speak for dolmar, I've heard good things but no one around here runs them because no one sells them.

Id say the 044 and 064 are as good as it get's from Stihl. Can even throw a 361 in there I reckon. All are destined for "cult" status, right in there with the infamous 242xp, 262xp, and 288xp.

The 7900 seems to just be in a league of it's own.... deservedly so.

Here was my 044R noodling big rounds of Doug fir

I'm looking forward to working with another member here to resurrect some tired Shindaiwa 695's - a saw I'd like to run alongside my Dolkita.

Don't feel bad. Every time I go get husky parts he asks me how many pieces of sh+t I sold this week. I think he is mad I'm selling double what he does

My *only* local dealer sells just Stihl. Fine saws, no doubt, but I'm in there all the time buying chain for whatever I'm using most lately. They genuinely dig the plethora of saws I drag by their shop, even though they are not orange and white these days.

But alas...
It's still just "soft wood"...

No clutch cover design clears noodles like a 7900...

Hahahahahaha!!!!!!

I love a 7900, and ported they are an absolute beast. If a 7900 was my largest saw I would be happy. But to tell the truth, the 372 is a better handling saw, more like a large 60cc saw in the hands (same for the 044 but it IS much buzzier), and I probably give it a slight nod over a 7900 in a 50/70/90 line up, and well ported it isn't that much behind a ported 7900. Now, if the saws have to stay stock, the 7900 is the saw to have regardless of where it fits in the lineup.

BTW, I voted for a 7900 bc the thread did not mention ported saws.
