What techniques are there for getting a good position to block down a big horizontal limb? Such as one close over a target so it needs to come down in short sections? All I am familiar with is standing in a choked sling as a foothold, but I'm hoping there is a better option?

Thanks

i usually sit on them, youll probably sit on your nuts a few times getting that down tho, i wore a jock strap when i started

The way I like to position myself is with a double crotch. Use 2 climbing lines with one on each side to stabilize yourself. Depending on the available tips this can work well. If the tree doesn't allow then as stated above, watch your nuts.
