Poulan 2000 running issues

I have just acquired a Poulan 2000. It starts perfectly but will only idle for, say, 10 seconds then dies. It will start again 2nd pull, i can rev it up and hold full revs for, say, 20 seconds but then it also dies. It will then start 2nd pull no problem. does this sound like a carb problem to you guys?

New fuel line, filter and a carb kit, clean or replace air filter. these can be a good little saw.

I was quite surprised at how strong the saw felt for being so small. I shall try the fuel lines and filter tomorrow and the see about buying a carb kit. Very simple saw to work on by the looks of it!
