Finally getting around to going through my PP655.
To my surprise I had a cracked ring - noticed it when I pulled it over. Ugh

So I have been meaning to put on my new Boost Port cylinder and an new thin ring piston I've had for a while now.

unfortunate thing is old piston (which may be salvageable) is a 12mm wrist pin and the new wrist pin that came with my new piston is 1/2" (a bit too big). Like 13.5mm??

Anyone know:
1. Is the 12mm pin stock? I hate to split the case and look for OEM con. rod to accommodate a piston.
2. Anyone know where I can find an OEM piston for this guy?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

The problem is 655BP's had a different conn rod than the P61's, so you have a P61 thin ring piston and a 655BP crank. I might know a guy who'd have a 655 piston, I'll shoot him a text and see. If he does, would you be opposed to a swap?

He said he may have a used one, there's a set of P60 rings on ebay right now, if they are the thick version I'd just put them on your old piston and run that. Also, @Beavers may have a set of rings that'll fit your saw if the ebay ones won't.

Thanks for your reply. The closer I look at the piston that came out of it(which is like new) i think I am going to try and salvage it. it looks like it has taken on a small fragment of the broken ring but I cant be sure. I will try some light 600 grit to take off the burr and buy some rings off ebay. Yeah I have the thin ring piston which I was really wanting to put in the 655 - who knew? Anyways I have a P60 I am also working on so I am going to see if maybe I can use that piston in that application. Thank you for the offer and help on the piston! Most of the wrist pins/piston kits I have found seem to be 12.7mm v.s. the 655's 12mm. I will assume rings are all same size.

Funny why the Poulan 655 saws (later in year) would go to a thick ring v.s. the thin ring P60-P61-P62). Better seal maybe and more stability? Less resistance from the thin ring and maybe a little more responsive.
