he said he had completely rebuilt it with all new parts costing him 400 and there was not a thing wrong with it i still have all his PM's about it he said the other day he would refund the 450 and that is the last i have heard from him and i have sent him 2 since then with details of getting the refund,,, i know for a fact he is on every evening

So true...
Especially since there's only biased information available from one side of the deal. The stampede effect caused by others jumping in with zero background information is annoying as well, to say the least.
I can accept someone bringing a case to the forum, but only if you have exploited every possible solution with the seller. Some decent background info would be handy AND some decent tech info on the problems witnessed.

The bottom line...nothing good ever comes from a complaining thread, reguardless if it's legit or not. No one wants to hear it. Just deal with the problem and move on. Trust me. I learned the hard way, lol.

You have now been asked to send the saw back twice. As soon as I receive it I will refund your money. The saw passed a pressure and vac test when it was assembled.

So I missed the point. What exactly is wrong with the saw besides its got oil all over it. What caused it?
Apparently the saw has a poorly patched oil tank that leaks like a sieve. When running the flywheel slings oil all over the inside of the saw housings and makes a heck of a mess. At least that is what I gather. A P/V test would not check a busted and patched oil tank unless the test was preformed on the actual oil tank, while the tank was hot and being "flexed".
As to the rest of the thread(s), I do not know.
Some more photos of the actual issue would be a better explanation.

The saw must have been shipped with the oil tank full of commas. They appear to have leaked out and into all 5 of his threads on the fateful 8000.

Looking at things from your perspective, I'm sure you feel like you got screwed. I haven't a clue what your level of expertise with chainsaws are, your ability to diagnose issue or make repairs. But based on the level of your complaint in this thread and the other that was locked, I'd guess it's limited.
The first few steps (forgetting that the seller has offered to refund you the money) would be to pull the covers off the saw and figure out where the oil is coming from. Just a close up picture of the oil...while it shows the end result and is wonderful from an emotional standpoint, does nothing to show how you were screwed. Hell I could take a brandy new 660 off the shelf dump some used oil all around, shoot a picture and put up a thread about how Stihl scammed me!
I doubt thats what you did, but it's up to you to prove the issue. Not just make emotional outbursts. From a third party perspective, these threads read like my 4 year old daughter trying to explain why she should be allowed to have cookies for breakfast and how mommy is mean because she wouldn't let her.
You obviously have a digital camera. Pull the recoil, top cover, air filter cover, clutch cover and shoot some pictures. It's possible that the issue is small or it could be major, as of right now, no one has a clue what the problem is.
From the sellers perspective, and I have to give him credit for holding his tongue if he is in the right, he very likely could have done everything he said. New seals, piston, cylinder, whatever...that wouldn't preclude a breather from popping out, a fin tossed off the clutch punching a hole in the tank housing, whatever...
That doesn't mean he intentionally screwed you.
Had his reaction been along the lines of "screw you that saw was perfect when I sent it to you..", "you musta done something", "that oil leak doesn't mean anything!"
Thats not what he's done, he's offered to refund you your money, period. That is not the action of a scammer, thats someone doing the right thing.
Not trying to beat you up, but perhaps your best bet would be to take that refund and apply it towards the purchase of a new unit. You'll have a warranty, local service (hopefully), and the peace of mind knowing you didn't get "scammed".

guess you did see the pics of it bob and that was the mild leakage so i know and you know that it wasn't right especially where it had been repaired inside the tank along with the other problems it had that i did fix a couple of them. so it is done. i am not happy with it at all and you are willing to send me the money so lets do this and get it done and we both can just go about our busiiness
