I'm quoting the removal of a ailanthus altissima and need some guidance. We are not using a chipper on this job, but rather leaving the outer extremities of the brush in a pile; the customer will deal with it. My ground guy is taking all the firewood. We'll be working in somewhat tight quarters, and there are a lot of branches over the roof. They are relatively lightweight branches, but the roof is in play nonetheless. What should I quote this job at? I really want to get it!

Hope you have a bucket truck

Yeah I hope you are not planning to climb this thing, I have seen 6in dia. limbs snap with just the slightest tug of a rope. We cut these things all the time on our job, but we work by the hour from a state contract. If I had a bucket truck I wouldn't cut it for less then $300 due to the smell alone. As for using it for firewood it does fine as long as you let it season out. Make sure to herbicide the stump or you will be back in five years to cut three trees which could be seen as job security. Good Luck!
