I picked up a 5100 that wasnt running ,,it has a scored piston, the score is about a half in wide from top to bottom, and its on the exhaust side but away from the port about a half inch or so... But after all the reading and pics I have looked at not sure if this was from a lean condition((( previous owner had ground off H side screw so it could be adjusted)))) Anyway after cleaning the bottom end I noticed a lot of paint missing outa the starter side of the crank case. Now the crank throws arnt rubbing the case,, but they apeared to have rubbed that paint away.. Another thing to the inside of the crank throw on that side of the case,, the paint thats their apears to be bubbling up,, my question could this be what killed this saw,, and is their a known problem of this happining to anyone else.
Tks for any help and any do,s and dont do,s
