red oak leaking water?

Where I live in Michigan April is still capable of causing those conditions, but in Texas I wouldn't know. When the weather drops below freezing at night and then warms above freezing during the day, it is not uncommon to see the kind of water flow that is described in the story. February is a good month in Michigan to collect Maple syrup, but April is not usually that good. I have had to install a slime flux tube in some red oaks and quite a few elms in order to release excess pressure where the trees were bubbling water from crotches above, and that can occur during summer months.

If you ever here what they found out, please let us all know.
 
I would think that to tell weather or not it was a broken pipe, all that they would have to do is test for chlorine in the water.
