Ok, let's see you fingernails. Your brothers hands look like he knows his way around a splitter. And I did assume the flip flops were a visitor and not yours. You know they say splitting wood is good therapy better get it fixed so he can get better faster. Wouldn't hurt to hand that hard kicker a splitting axe either.

The Energy C-908 is the valve you can buy on-line. It is the same as the C-1259, (proprietary to MTD), except you will need to remove the two screws holding the handle bracket to the valve body and rotate it 180° and re-fasten the two screws. Another difference is the C-908 is not painted. The last difference is the internal relief valve setting, (limits the maximum operating pressure and therefore the maximum output force of the splitting cylinder). The C-1259 was set at 3200 +/- 200 PSI. The C-908 is set at 2000 +/- 200 PSI. You can adjust it, the sheet that comes with the valve has the instructions to do that, but you will need a pressure gage to know you've set it correctly. But you can get in the ballpark by turning the relief adjusting screw in clockwise until you can't turn it more, then turn it back out counter-clockwise approximately 1-1/2 to 1-5/8 revolutions. You should be good to go with that and the plumbing will be easy for you with the Energy valve.
